The Lightning won their second consecutive game and has moved on to the Championship Game of the tournament. They will face off against the Eagles of Eden Prairie. However, both teams have already earned their State Tournament bids with today’s wins. Eastview beat Mound/Westonka in an extra-inning thriller 7-3. They were ahead all game until the sixth inning when they let an unearned run across. In the top of the 8th, they plated five to pull away. Mound/Westonka rallied to get one across but that was all they could muster up as the Lightning advanced. Eastview had a team effort with some solid defense by Erik Edsten and a great suicide squeeze by Garrett Runing. Kyle Anderson (2b. 2 rbi) and Lucas Allen (2b) each had two hits. Devin Dickson pitched six solid innings to lower his ERA to 1.36. John Melzarek came on in relief to pick up his first win of the year. The Lightning and Eagles square off at 2 in the afternoon and all indications are that it should be a beautiful day of baseball.
