The Lightning got back in the winning column by defeating Waseca in the first pool play game 11-5. They committed 2 errors in the 1st leading to 4 unearned runs. They played perfect D the last 5 innings and had some timely hits on offense. The offense was led by Dickson (2 h), Allen (2 r), Devine (2 rbi 3B), Velin (sb, r) & Woods (3 bb, 3 sb, 3 r) -- all reached multiple times. Melzarek pitched well for 5 innings to get his second win on the season. He was a little handicapped because he could not throw many curves because of his injury but he kept his fastball down and Waseca only had one hard hit baseball. The Lightning are now 3-1 in tournament play and hope to keep rolling at noon tomorrow against Burnsville Blaze. It will be their first meeting of the season and Eastview sends Devine (1-0, 0.00) to the bump in hopes of starting 2-0 in pool play.
