Eastview got up early 7-2 and withstood some Hastings rallies late to win 7-6. It is Eastview's first tournament championship in the past two years. The Lightning pounded out 13 hits for the second consecutive game but it was their defense which was off today. Eastview committed 4 errors, which led to 3 unearned runs off of starter Garrett Runing (W, 2 K). Kyle Anderson (2 k) and Devin Dickson (SV, 1 k) came on in relief to get the last 6 outs. Dickson came through huge for the Lightning on the mound this weekend with a win and a save in the 3 games. He allowed 1 hit all weekend. The offense was led by a large group of guys: Allen (2 r, sb), Runing (3 rbi), Anderson (2b, 2 rbi), Dickson (2b, rbi), Edsten (2b, 2 bb) & Henry (1b, 2b). All of those men reached base multiple times! Eastview's bottom third of the order went 7-8 with an HBP and 5 RBI!! Eastview has now won seven straight going into their doubleheader showdown against Owatonna. John Melzarek (5-2, 1.18) and either Sean Devine (2-2, 3.28) or Devin Dickson (2-2, 1.05) are expected to get the start. It's a huge night for the Lightning because they can really solidify their ground in the top two or three in league play with a sweep. Game times are scheduled for 6 and 8 PM.
