Eastview (17-13-1) got back in the win column for the first time in 16 days after defeating Bloomington 7-4. Eastview got up early and played with the lead the entire game. After being up 5-2, Bloomington got a quick 2 spot in the 6th to make it a 1-run game. Eastview came back with 2 runs in the 6th inning without even putting a hit up on the board. The offense was led by Dickson (SB, RBI), Melzarek (2B, SB, RBI) & Velin (BB, SB) -- all reached base multiple times! Also helping out on offense was Woods (R, SAC), Devine (1B, SB), Allen (HBP, SAC, 2 RBI) & Jonas (BB, SB, RBI). Woods (1 ER, 2 K) was great on the mound for the Lightning. He threw strikes and kept Jaguar hitters off balanced with a good curveball--fastball mix. With the win, Woods is now 2nd on the team in wins. Dickson came in and earned his 3rd save of the season! The Lightning got some help from Cottage Grove, who had yet another upset; this time over Shoreview. The winner of the Eastview-Shoreview pool play finale will advance into Saturday night's first round bracket play. With the win, Cottage Grove has already advanced to Sunday's quarterfinal play. Melzarek (6-3, 1.50) will be on the bump for the Lightning. It's crunch time for Eastview as every game here on out is win or go home! Game time is set for 10:30 in the morning.
