The Lightning lost a heart-breaker extra-inning affair with Burnsville White by a score of 3-2. Eastview had the bases loaded with only one out with a chance to tie and/or win it but could not come through. Eastview was led by their pitcher John Melzarek (1 er, 10 k) who threw over 7 innings of magnificent baseball. The offense gave him little support however. With only 3 hits, the Lighting managed to do the “little things” right, as they had to play some “small ball” to stay in the game. The offense was led by Velin (2 r, 2 bb), Melzarek (rbi 1b), Runing (sac bunt), & Devine (sac fly). The Lightning takes a few days off before traveling to Glencoe this weekend for their wood bat tournament. Their first opponent is their district rivals Irish from Rosemount. Sean Devine will make his first appearance of the year on the bump as he looks to give the Lightning their first win.
