Game Notes: Despite the heat, solid hitting and good fielding helped Pecatonica take home a victory over Mount Horeb #2 at Mount Horeb High School.

The Vikings came out swinging in the 1st with J. Scoville reaching first and stealing three other bases to score the first run. N. Loyd walked next, stole two bases, and reached home on a catcher's error. D. Conwell would also walk to first, but a single slapped to left field by J. Melvin would bring Conwell across home for the third run and a solid lead that Pec would refuse to relinquish.

N. Loyd took the mound for Pec, allowing only 2 hits in the first four innings and striking out 3 batters. The first hit, a single in the 1st inning, would bring home one run for Mount Horeb. A fielding error would permit a score in the 2nd, and a fielder's choice enabled the third and final run to score for Mouth Horeb in the 4th.

In the top of the 2nd, Pec batters increased the lead by four, one on a single hit by N. Loyd, and three scored when base runners (Scoville, Loyd, & T. Gilson) stole home on pass balls. Mount Horeb defenders would rally during the next two innings to keep the Vikings scoreless in the 3rd & 4th, but Pec would return the favor by holding Mount Horeb scoreless in the 3rd and 5th. The Vikings cut short Mount Horeb's hope in the 2nd thanks to a double play by T. Gilson and J. Hendrickson.

In the 5th, a sacrifice grounder by N. Gilbertson brought J. Melvin in for one run, and G. Daly would steal home on a pass ball for the second. In the bottom of the 5th, Mount Horeb threatened to get back into the game after loading the bases on walks, but S. Swenson at 3rd base prevented the score by fielding a grounder to home, and relief pitcher J. Scoville would strike out two others.

In the top of the 6th, Pec put the game away with four back-to-back singles by J. Tollakson, J. Scoville, N. Loyd, and D. Conwell; all four would eventually score.

The game was called in the 6th on the 10-Run Rule.
