The Gloves relinquished leads of 6-1 and 9-2 as they went on to lose to the FW Fuel 11-10 in a non-league NEBL game.  The game started out on a high note as Fuel's right-handed pitcher threw 60 first-inning pitches giving up 5 walks and six runs.  The Gloves posted another 3-runs in the top half of the second and appeared to be cruising until Gloves pitchers issued 7 walks and their fielders mishandled three plays to allow the Fuel to take the lead in the bottom of the 5th at 10-9.

After spotting the FW Indians another 7 runs to start the Championship Game, the Gloves showed grit and battled back in a frigid thriller under the lights in Columbia City only to lose 7-6.  With game time temperature dipping below 40 degrees and the crowd barely visible under their scarves, ear muffs and blankets the Gloves stumbled and fumbled their way to spotting the Indians another 7 runs.  Trailing 7-2 in the botton half of the last inning, the Gloves finally began findng the holes with their hits and scored 4 runs on 4 hits and a couple of walks.  Dane Johnson's hard ground out to the shortstop ended the rally and gave the Gloves a second place finish to earn a birth in the BPA World Series in the Greater Lansing Area.  Another Deon moment awaits.

In his second attempt for an inside the park home run, Jordan Hissong made sure this one counted.  His shot into the wind over the left fielder's  head may have been out on a calm evening.  That did not deter Jordan who crossed the plate as the cutoff man received the ball.  This was the highlight of the game as the Gloves pasted the Stars to earn a bid to the championship game.  Skyler Noll pitch 4 innings and gave up only one run as he efficiently pitched though the Stars line-up.  Justin Hill made a relief appearance to close out the last inning.

Adam Davison held the Stars to one run and the Gloves peppered Stars pitchers for a ho hum 8-1 victory in the second game of the Columbia City BPA Tounament.  Jordan Hissong's inside the park HR was called a double after it was discovered that the ball went under the fence.  Umpires were confused as the Stars right fielder did not throw up his hands while he lumbered after the ball.

Ben Fry's ground ball to second base with one out and runners on second a third propelled the Gloves past the Cubs for first game of the Columbia City BPA Tournament.  Dane Johnson scored the wnning run on Biggen's hit, a sharp ground ball to the second baseman who had no shot at throwing out Johnson.

The Midwest Gloves dropped a second game to the FW Indians last night losing a close one 7-6.  It was the first game at Ash Center that actually lasted 7 full innings.  The Gloves staked an early 2-0 lead on two outs in the bottom of the first.  A couple of errors in the third inning allowed the Indians to strike back and take a 4-2 lead.  For a second night in a row, the gloves hurlers shined by allowing only 3 walks.  Adam Davison threw 4 good innings and demonstrated good enough stuff to earn a win.  Joey Morlan figured out how to throw a curve ball in the second inning of his 3-inning relief and only allowed 2 runs.  Other highlights included tremendous efforts by both Justin Hill and Jordan Hissong diving for catches in separate innings.

In a close contest on Wednesday, the Midwest Gloves tamed the FW Tigers 3-2 in six innings.  With Ben Fry on second base and Chase Kinslow on first, Parker Noll laid down a third base line-hugging bunt that confused the Tiger catcher.  The catcher threw a wildly to first base and the ball skipped into right field scoring Biggen from second.  Parker was thrown out at second on bad advice from the first base coach and the top half of the sixth ended one out later.  Skyler Noll closed out the bottom of the 6th inning on 20 pitches and two stike-outs to earn the his first save of the year.
