Posted Apr 27/11 - Dominated By Elizabethton & JV Tournament Schedule Change

The JV Tournament opener at Elizabethton High School, scheduled for today, Wednesday, April 27th against the Sullivan North Raiders, has been postponed until tomorrow, Thursday, April 28th at 4:30.  If we win tomorrow, we will play the Sullivan East Patriots on Friday.  We have a Varsity doubleheader at home on Friday vs. the University High Jr. Bucs.  Depending on what time we play on Friday, if we do indeed win on Thursday, our JV players who are on the Varsity roster may play and dress in the first game on Friday at home.  Obviously, all of this is thinking ahead.  Check back to the Insider for updates.

As good as the 6-3 Varsity win felt on Monday at Joe O'Brien Field against the Elizabethton Cyclones, our 15-0 loss to them today, Wednesday, April 27th, hurt just as much, if not more.  Cyclone right handed pitcher, Mckinley Berry, was dominant.  He no hit the Longhorns through 5 innings and struck out 10 in the process.  Only two walks (Austin Humphrey & Jacob Henson) and Mark Jennings reaching on an error, kept Berry from hurling a perfect game.  Our defense, which has been very good most of the 2011 season, was horrible on Wednesday, as we committed 7 errors, with many of them being crucial.  Our Varsity club has to rebound in preparation for the University High doubleheader on Friday.
