Posted Sep 18/09 - 007 Play Spoiler in Comeback Effort

The 007's needed 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the Manitoba Hillbillies last night at Little Mountain Park. The game ended in a 15-15 tie. A three run 2 out double by Danielle Smadella helped pull the 007's within 1 after a slew of singles started the comeback. The hard hit grounder squirted through the legs of the third baseman and took a hop that eluded the left fielder, sending the ball scurrying into the field. Setting up the tying RBI by Mike Schroeder.

This was another night of platoon pitching by the 007's as Michelle Ford and Jeff Clark combined to hold the Hillbillies at bay. Also doing the combo play were Mike Schroeder and Kevin Grant - splitting time at short for the duration of the game.

This was also the first game for Blair Darragh - joining the team from D-Tox for a pre-playoff conditioning stint. He went 4-4 with a couple of singles, a double, and a mammoth home-run that caused hallucinations by the Hillbillies left fielder. "You said he had power - not super power" was the quote form the still frazzled opponent.

Mike Schroeder also supplied a home run to the cause going 4 for 5. Jeff Clark had a sparkling night at 4-4, and Danielle Smadella came in with 3-3.

Taking the night off were 007 stalwarts Kristine Duke, Don Miller and Rick Sheppard.

The 007's next game is 2 5-inning makeups against the Beer Nuts on Sunday at 3:15 at Little Mountain Park. Tickets are on sale and the pre-game show will be brought to you by Vickar Community Chev-Olds.
