Posted Mar 19/12 - Two Tough Three Rivers Conference Games to Open the Week
The Elizabethton Cyclones travel to Johnson County today to play the JCHS Longhorns.  The Cyclones opened their conference season last week with a 3-1 loss to Sullivan East and a 6-1 win vs. the Happy Valley Warriors.  Johnson County is coming off of a come from behind win this past Thursday against a much improved Hampton Bulldog club.  The Longhorns trailed 5-1 in the 3rd inning, but eventually evened the score at 5 runs apiece in the bottom of the 5th on a Jacob Henson solo bomb over the left field wall.  Senior, Andy Stout, gave the home team the lead with a single in the bottom of the 6th, scoring senior second baseman, Chad Hodgkiss, who singled to get aboard.  Junior, Ryan Mahala, threw five hitless innings for Johnson County.  Mahala has surrendered only one hit in 6 and 2/3 innings in this early season.  First pitch is scheduled for a 5:00.  Jacob Henson will be taking the ball for the Longhorns.  A JV Longhorn game to follow.  Sophomore, Jake Sutherland, will be taking the ball for the JV JCHS Longhorns.  The JV club opened their season with a 10-4 win vs. Hampton on Thursday night.  Sophomore, Sam Thomas, earned the win, pitching three innings of solid baseball in the five inning game.
