| Posted Mar 27/12 - JCHS Drops Conference Game To Sullivan East |
| The JCHS Longhorns had a 3-2 lead on Monday vs. the Sullivan East Patriots until the top of the 5th inning, behind an RBI 1B from first baseman, Daniel Helm, and an 2 RBI 2B off of the bat of Harley Reece, who played third base on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately these Longhorn runs came in the bottom of the 1st inning and Sullivan East ace, Aaron Boiling, settled down and surrendered only three JCHS base runners the rest of the way in a 9-3 JCHS loss. Below are some highlights: *Daniel Helm now has 10 RBI through the first eight games of the 2012 season, consistently hitting the ball hard and playing very good first base defense. *Andy Woods is proving he can give us as a chance to win on the Varsity level when he is on the mound. He has zero walks in his two Varsity starts this season, and his changeup and curveball have been very effective. *Jacob Henson had a base knock and stole two bases on Monday vs. East. *Reece's RBI double was his 4th of the 2012 season, tieing Helm for the team lead. *Andy Stout displayed a good curveball and a good sinker in this 7th inning relief appearance. *Junior catcher, Ryan Smith, has improved his release time and accuracy on his throws from the catcher position. He threw out a Patriot runner at 2B on Monday afternoon. Today, Tuesday, March 27th is a new day and another Three Rivers Conference baseball game. The Happy Valley Warriors, coming off of a 4-1 loss to Unicoi on Monday evening, come to Johnson County today. The Warriors defeated us by the score of 13-8 on Opening Day. Ryan Mahala pitched very well in defeating Sullivan North last Tuesday. We are expecting him to do the same today vs. the Warriors. First pitch has been moved up to 4:00 pm. |
