| The JCHS Longhorns travel to Cloudland High School today to play the Highlanders. Senior right hander, Harley Reece, will be on the bump for the visiting team. Many players enjoy playing at Cloudland because their short fence makes home runs a realisitc possibility, even for players who are not known for power potential. Some recent highlights from games at Cloudland would be 2010 graduate, Cody Greer, hitting his first career home run during his 2010 senior season and his dad, Rick, going through the thicket of briers behind the OF fence to retrieve the home run ball. 2011 Graduate, Danny Herman, hit 6 home runs in his JCHS career, including a game tieing 3-run long ball at home vs. the Unicoi Blue Devils during the 2011 season, and an opposite field shot vs. the Sullivan North Raiders at Milligan College (Anglin Field) in the 2011 District 1 AA Tournament. Four of Herman's career bombs came at Cloudland High, as Danny had two multiple home run games at the Highlanders (2010/2011 seasons). First pitch is at 4:30 today, as we wait for the offensive fireworks to begin!! Thank you for your support of JCHS Longhorn Baseball. The JV Longhorns will play following the Varsity game, looking for their 3rd win of the 2012 season. Sophomore lefty, Jake Sutherland, will take the ball for the JV club. Freshman, Adam Worley, will be making his season debut at the shortstop position. |
