After staking Tyee to a 2-0 led in the top of the first, the Pirates responded with 13 runs of their own in the bottom half and never looked back. The final score was 22-5 as the Tyee pitchers struggled to find the strike zone and when they did HHS batsmen were eager to attack. Highline was led offensively by Jonny Rhodes who was 2-for-3 with a triple and a homerun. Erik Anderson went 2-for-2 with a double. Mitchell McCartney started and went two strong innings. Rhodes threw two scoreless innings to record the win and improve his record to 3-0 on the young season.
Highline travels to Safeco Field tomorrow night for the opening game of the 2012 High School Baseball Classic and a non-league against Foss High School. Friday has the Pirates visiting Evergreen High School at 3:30 PM.
