The Indians posted their 2nd straight up-set win tonight by defeating the Vancouver Mounties 6-1 at Nanaimo Park. This came on the heels of a 5-3 win last week at Blundell Park vs the Richmond Chuckers. Both opponents are ranked 1 or 2 along with the Cloverdale Spurs this season so these were big wins for the Indians to start the season.

In the Richmond opener, Jacob Doyle and Jordan Dray handled mound duties to secure the victory. The Indians took advantage early of some Chuckers errors and wildness from the SP to take an early lead. The Chuckers battled back to narrow the gap, but the Indians were able to hold off their hosts to secure the win. On Tuesday, the Indians jumped out early with 2 runs in the 2nd and 2 more in the 4th to take a 4-0 lead. The Mounties bounced back with a single run in the 5th inning, but the Indians turned in some solid defense to back starter Jacob Doyle's complete game victory.

It is a great start for the Indians, but one of caution, as the coaching staff knows that both opponents will be serious contenders going forward. The Indians are happy to get whatever early season victories they can get and they know that both teams will rebound once their chemistry sets in.  Next up is Victoria Black this weekend.
