Posted Apr 23/12 - Longhorns Look To Stay Hot Vs. Cyclones
If weather allows the Johnson County Longhorns will look to continue their streak of good baseball today vs. the Elizabethton Cyclones.  JCHS has won four games in a row and five of six overall.  This includes three conference (Three Rivers Conference) wins in their last four conference games.  The Sullivan Central Cougars had a 12-2 out of conference record coming to Johnson County on Friday afternoon.  They were handed their third out of conference loss of the 2012 season at the hands of a career day on the mound from senior, Harley Reece, and some clutch hitting.

*Reece threw 101 pitches, with 60 of them being strikes.  He threw a first pitch strike 58% of the time.  Reece struck out 3 Cougar batters on the day, on his way to collecting his second win of the season and his second complete game.  Friday's game was Harley's third consecutive strong pitching performance (at Hampton, at Happy Valley, vs. Central).

*First baseman, Daniel Helm had two more hits.  He recorded a single, double, knocked in a run, scored two runs, and stole a bag.  Helm is hitting .448 on the year.

*Designated Hitter, Ryan Mahala, had two hits for the home team, knocking in three runs in the 4-1 Longhorn victory.  Ryan raised his season average back over .300, at .302.

*Andy Stout has been getting hot for the LonghornsStout had a base hit, scored a run, and stole a base.  Andy has raised his season batting average to an even .300.

*Senior, Bobby Taylor, scored a run for Johnson County off the bench.
