Posted May 5/12 - JCHS Wins Thriller In District 1 AA Tournament Opener
Earning the #4 seed outright and getting the last at-bat as the home team on the scoreboard proved to be crucial for JCHS on Friday, May 4th in the District 1 AA Tournament opening game. In the bottom half of the 8th inning centerfielder, Jacob Henson, and right fielder, River Cazire reached on errors by the Sullivan North shorstop. Chad Hodgkiss came to the plate with one out, but quickly fell behind the North pitcher, West. With two strikes Hodgkiss laced a single that hugged the right field line, scoring Henson from second and River Cazire all the way from first base, for a walkoff JohnsonCounty postseason win. Senior, Harley Reece, started the game on the bump for Johnson County and pitched into extra innings. Reece surrendered only one earned run through his eight innings of work to improve his record to 3-0 on the year. Today, Saturday, May 5th, Johnson County will throw right hander, RyanMahala against the #1 seed Elizabethton Cyclones. First pitch is schedule for 1:00 at Anglin Field.
