Portland rockets open season with 2-1 win over Richmond riverrats, then sweep twin bill
9-8, and14-3 over napolean riverbandits to go 3-0 on weekend
in each the first 2 games the Portland rockets trailed going into their last at bat, but rallied to win.
Sat rockets trailed 1-0 in the top of the ninth in Richmond at mcbride stadium, until mitch waters, the Italian stallion, hit a seeing eye single thru the middle scoring ben smith with the tying run. Justin miller Yorktown and Manchester college drove in mitch then tripling down the right field line.
Travis gray norwell, heidleberg closed out a bases loaded jam in the 8th and took the win shutting out the prospect league rats in the 9th.
Waters, dan bollenbacher, south adams, and bill geeslin coldwater, urbana, all threw shutout innings. Tyler Reynolds, Muncie, ind. Tech. Pitched in the 8th giving up one run on 3 hits.
