The Indians and top ranked Richmond Chuckers squared off on Wednesday at Bird Field and as expected the game was a tight affair even though both teams did not use their aces on the mound. The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Alan Selman-Branston doubled in Max Kondratowski and then Lucas Ciachurski singled him in. The Chuckers then struck back with a single run in the 3rd and then exploded for 5 runs in the 4th inning to take a 6-2 lead. The Indians would battle right back with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie it up at 6 keyed by a double from Kyle Stubbins and a triple off the bat of Jordan Dray. The visitors then tallied a single run in the top of the 7th to take the lead and even though the Indians threatened in the bottom of the 7th featuring a line shot down the 3rd base line by Matt Clay which was called foul--debatable at best. So in the end even though the Indians showed heart to battle back, their effort came up just short.
