The Indians took to Bird field on Thursday hosting the highly ranked and defending BC Provincial champion Vancouver Mounties. The favoured Mounties jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Michael Yang led off the game with an infield single and came around to score. The Indians answered in the bottom of the 2nd with 3 runs. Alan led off with a walk followed by an RBI single from SP Coleton Rieta. Jordan Dray was intentionally walked but Kyle Stubbins made the Mounties pay when he stroked a 2-run double scoring both Rieta and Dray to put the Indians up 3-1. Dray led the 4th inning off with a hard ground ball that the Mounties 2B could not come up with and was driven in on a ground-out RBI from Stubbins to put the Indians up 4-1 after 4 innings.

In the top of the 5th, Nash Sebben led off for the Mounties with a 3B and then Jacob Doyle came in to relieve Indians starter Coleton Rieta. A couple of Indians errors and a 2B by Hogan led to the Mounties tying the game at 4-4 after the top of the 5th. The Indians would bounce right back in the bottom of the 5th when Riley Engleson was plunked with 1 out. After a WP moved Riley to 2nd he was replaced as a pinch runner by Lucas Ciachurski.  After a WP moved Lucas to 3B, Coleton came up with a beauty squeeze bunt, with 2 strikes on him, to score Lucas from 3rd and put the Indians up 5-4 after 5. After Doyle shut the Mounties 1-2-3 in the 6th, the Indians added an insurance run when Doyle delivered an, out 1B to score Dray from 2B and put the Indians up 6-4 going into the top of 7.

The Mounties would claw back though with scrappy Brandon Kingsbury leading off with a long 2B followed by a game tying HR from William Quito, knotting the game at 6. Shortstop Dray made 2 great plays following that to stop the Mounties from any further damage. After the Mounties tied the game, Indians pitcher Doyle settled down retiring the next 9 Mountie hitters in order {5 via the K} setting the stage for the bottom of the 9th. Matt Clay led off with a Texas chopper that found the outfield for a 1B but was forced at 2B on a FC off the bat of Doyle. Jacob then advanced to 2B on a WP and after Aaron Sinclaire flied to left, the stage was set for Alan Selman-Branston. With Jacob on 2nd and 2 outs, Alan delivered the game winning RBI 2B; hitting a curve ball off LP Nash Sebben in the RF gap.  Doyle scored from 2B with the winning run to give the Indians a hard fought and thrilling 7-6 win over a very tough Vancouver Mounties team.

This was a huge win for the Indians as the Mounties are a team all contenders measure themselves against because they are a well-coached team that competes every year at the top of the standings. The Mounties coaching staff was obviously upset following the Indians upset win as Mounties coach Todd Mundle turned down the offer of a "Tall Boy Stella" by Indians manager Randy Downes in the parking lot following the game. As many in baseball know Downes is tight with his pops so Mundle missed his chance and may not get another one for many a moon. Nonetheless this was a great ball-game on a beautiful night in a beautiful ball-park!!

Next up; the Indians travel to Cloverdale to take on the highly ranked Eddy Dagg coached Cloverdale Spurs where Indians coach Jeff Thompson returns home to face his former team-mates.
