West Bend Thunder Repeats as the Slinger Tournament Champions!!

West Bend Thunder pound Germantown in the championship in five innnings 19-4. The THUNDER BOOOMED out 19 hits in five innings to take home back to back titles in the Slinger baseball tournament.  

The Thunder got rolling this weekend with strong pitching performances from Cooper, Juan, T.J, Jordan, and Josh.  They recorded 23 strikeouts while only walking 8 as a team. Logan did an awesome job calling the game for our pitchers from behind the plate!

The defense was spectacular all weekend only recording 2 errors in the tournament.  The team showed what working the leather was all about in the championship with a great diving catch by Riley and mind-blowing double play by pitcher, Cooper, on a screaming liner that he snared then doubled the runner off at first.  Juan made play after play at 3rd base including a sensational ESPN highlight that would have made Brooks Robinson stand up!  

It's no secret that the strength of the Thunder is it's booming bats!  The Thunder was cracking the ball in every game.  The top of the order was unbelievable for the tourney almost scoring at will.  Blake was 9-12, Cooper 9-13, Juan was 7-11 (with two homers), and Mason was 6-9.  But it doesn't stop there....every player on the team hit the ball hard.  Matt, Jordan and Nick added 5 hits each, TJ and Logan each had 4 hits.  Riley, Jonny and Josh hit the ball great too and continually made it on base!  The team was 61-120 for the tournament or .508  WOW!

Game Highlights: West Bend Thunder beats G-town Blue 6-5..big highlight was Juan Gurrola's 275 foot bomb over the 264' sign in center field!  The Thunder pounded out 11 hits in the win!  Matt gets clutch at the end with a one out deep fly ball to drive in the winning run in the 6th!

West Bend Thunder beats Mequon Heat 21-1 in four innings:  The Thunder pitched awesome and boomed 19 hits in four innings!  Thunder bats led by Blake, Cooper, Jordan and a deep bomb from Mason!  Jonny pounded out two big hits too!

West Bend Thunder beats the Coony 5 O's 14 -4 in four innings in the semi finals:  The 5 O's came out quickly putting the bats on the ball and taking the lead, but Thunder defense held tough and the bats were still hot with 14 hits in four innings.  TJ and Josh pitched very well throwing strike after strike!
