There is nothing better than watching your kids play baseball on a special weekend like this!

The story of the weekend was DEFENSE and very good pitching by the hometown kids!  In five games, the team only committed 4 errors and allowed 12 runs!  Timely hitting and sensational home runs kept the THUNDER ROLLING to a 5-0 weekend and a father’s day present championship!  Highlight reel plays were made by players while securing every routine play out there!

Pitching was key:  Juan Gurrola, Cooper Schlosser, Josh Brockman, Jordan Schommer, Blake Hall, TJ Simpson, Matt Geldnich, Riley McClarran and Jonny Baumann combined for 17 strike-outs while only walking 5 for the tournament!  Logan and Cooper guided the pitching staff masterfully from behind the dish, while keeping opponents from advancing the bases with great defense!

Bats were Boooming!  Every Thunder player had a stellar weekend at the plate.  Jordan, Cooper, Blake, Mason, Juan and Nick had 3 multiple hit games.  Singles, doubles, triples, and yes boooooooming homeruns by Juan Gurrola (2) and Jonny Baumann (2) secured victories when the team needed it most!

The competition was very good in pool play and the Thunder beat two very good teams (Mequon Heat Red 13-4, Elmbrook Braves Black 3-2) to earn the #1 seed for the bracket play.  In Game 3 the Thunder beat the Tosa Titans 11-2 to move on to the semi finals. 

Game 4 was a rematch with Mequon.  It is very tough to beat a team twice in the same tournament, but the Thunder prevailed 2-1 to move on to the championship.  Scoring was done via the homerun with Mequon getting a solo shot as one of their 3 hits.  The Thunder had 5 hits with Juan Gurrola hitting a MONSTER two run shot over the trees to seal the victory.

Championship was another rematch against Elmbrook. The atmosphere was fantastic for every dad in the crowd, but in this game it was all THUNDER with a 9-3 victory.
