Posted Jul 10/13 - July 7th Double Header at Bird

On July 7th the Indians hosted the Okanagan A's at beautiful Bird field. It was Tri-City's first look at the improved A's team who would throw some quality pitching at us on this day. Indians jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of 1, when Jordan doubled, Kyle singled and both guys came around to score. The visiting A's got 1 back in the top of 3 when SP Alan Selman was touched up for 3 hits but the Indians struck back quickly with a 4 spot in the bottom half of the 3rd. Jacob Simms led off with a solid single and was followed by back to back hits from Jordan, Kyle, and Matt Clay. Aaron closed the scoring with an RBI single to put us up 6-1 after 3. The A's scratched another run in the 4th but the locals put the game away with a 9 spot in the bottom of the 4th featuring HR's from Alan and Clay as the Indians cruised to a 15-2 romp to open the DH.

Game 2 - It was obvious that this was to be a much tighter game as the A's threw their ace, who would hold our bats at bay for most of the day but as good teams do, the Indians would find a way to win. Aaron and Riley keyed the 2 run 2nd inning with hits and Max laid down a nice squeeze bunt to put us up 2-0 after 2. But the visitors tied the game at 2 off our SP Coleton, when his defence let him down with 2 errors leading to the 2 unearned runs. Okanagan would go up 3-2 after 5 and things looked bleak for the Indians until Jordan was HBP to lead off the bottom of 6 and came around to tie the game at 3 after 6. Kelowna's pitcher hit his 95 pitch count after the 6th and Jordan came in for us to shut the A's bats down in the top of the 7th. In the home half of the inning, Beau reached on an error with 1 out and came to 3rd on a WP. Then with 2 out, Jordan stepped up to the plate with a chance to be a hero and boy did he deliver--a 2 run walk-off bomb to give us a hard fought 5-3 win over a scrappy A's team. Whew!!!
