It's all the rage currently in youth football the question is how real is it !
The mighty NFL is pushing its lets certify the coaches campaign but is it real , a resent interview with an NFL official on a sports business show suggest that some of it is business related remember the NFL just settled a lawsuit with former players about concussion's and have joined forces with USA Football which in this situation one could look at USA as the NFL governing arm into youth football control .
The NFL makes no move without being a business situation connected on the back end of the deal, not suggesting that certification isn't a good move there are plenty of youth coaches who shouldn't have a whistle in their hand, but if safety is the real push then where is the CPR , Concussion training for youth coaches even high school and junior high programs have had to move in that direction, but not youth football the question is why? oh wait yes it cost money but charging $20.00 for the certification paper to be a coach does as well .
The future of youth football is slowly moving away from the association control where by the local president and the board controls the game more specialized programs are coming similar to what happened in baseball and basketball the coaches will be better which will draw the better athletes to those teams or programs and will also cause a changing of the guard in league play as well all of which is good for the young athlete and the parent . Will the association recreational teams continue ? yes but to watch the better players age 10 thru 13 you will have to find a select program to see the best take on the best in that age grouping.
