When perennial powerhouse Farragut finally struck Monday on the diamond at Scotland Yard, Maryville High School had a three-pronged answer: dominant pitching, sterling defense and opportunistic hitting.

That was plenty enough to propel the Rebels to a 4-1 victory over the Admirals, who had entered the game 6-0 under first-year coach Matt Buckner.

Maryville (5-1, 1-0 District 4-AAA), which won four of five games last week in Orlando, Fla., got a complete-game four-hitter from senior ace Kaleb Moore, who fanned three and didn’t allow a hit in five of the seven innings.
