Posted Apr 1/10 - Big Thursday for Longhorn Baseball
Tyler Fenner went deep for the second straight game, both against the Happy Valley Warriors.  This home run, a three run shot, gave the Longhorns a 7-5 lead in the top of the 7th.  Cody Greer earned the win in relief, as he went 4 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits, but only allowing 2 earned runs (3 total).  Greer struck out 4, walked 2, and hit 1.  Greer helped his cause at the plate, as he went 2-3 with 3 RBI.  Catcher, David Lunceford, also had 2 hits for Johnson County.  Zack Hayworth, Austin Humphrey, Sammy Hampton, and Mark Jennings also collected base hits for Johnson County.  This was the Longhorns first conference win of the 2010 season.  Hopefully it's also a win that shows other teams in the Three Rivers Conferenve that the Johnson County Longhorns are not just a bottom feeding team that does not have the ability to win a lot of baseball games.  We look forward to hosting the Unicoi County Blue Devils on Monday afternoon.

The JV Longhorns beat the Cloudland Highlanders 27-0.  Yes, you read that right, 27-0.  The score could have been much worse if runners would not have been held at third on wild pitches and passed balls.  It's always good to play games, and not to knock Cloudland, but the pregame work may have benefited the team more than the actual game.  The JV Longhorns are now 3-0 on the season, but they will be tested next Thursday, as the JV Unicoi County Blue Devils come to town.
