It has been a frustrating two days for everyone associated with the Johnson County Longhorn Baseball Program. We had our worst showing of the young season, on Tuesday, at Elizabethton. Sammy Hampton kept us in the game, as he went 5 innings and gave up 4 earned runs, struck out 6, against 3 walks, but we did not help him offensively. Cody Greer, Austin Humphrey, and Sawyer Ward had the lone Longhorn hits. Humphrey's was a 2B in the top of the 5th that scored Zack Hayworth, who reached on a BB. James Reece worked the 6th, striking out the side. Hopefully that is something Reece can build on. The JV Longhorns will host the Unicoi County Blue Devils on Thursday evening, with first pitch being thrown at 5:00. The Varsity club is back in action Friday, as we host Sullivan Central, with first pitch also being at 5:00. Some of the air has been let out of our baloon the last two days, but all we can do is keep on working, striving to improve.
