A loss is a loss no matter how you spin it, but some losses are easier to take than others. The Johnson County Longhorns played well on Tuesday against the Sullivan East Patriots. The defense did not committ one error. Second baseman, Zack Hayworth hit three balls well, and went 2-4 on the day, including a 2 RBI 2B. We had 9 hits as team, and that does not include a ball hit to the right-center gap off of the bat of Cody Greer, that was tracked down by the East centerfielder, D. Grear. That also does not include a line drive home run off of the bat of Sawyer Ward that was called a foul ball by the home plate umpire. Junior, Mark Jennings, started on the mound for the Longhorns and threw the ball well, although his pitching stat line will not show it. A big East 4th inning knocked Jennings from the game. Sammy Hampton came in and threw 2 2/3 innings of really good baseball, giving up 2 hits, and striking out 2, without a base on ball. This was a loss that had some posititive things that could be taken from it, but as we said, a loss is a loss. The Elizabethton Cyclones travel to Johnson County on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00.
