| There are times that a pitchers won/loss record does not measure his true value to a baseball club. Sammy Hampton is an example of that for the 2010 Johnson County Longhorns. He is 0-4 on the year, but has started games at Unicoi County on opening day, vs. Happy Valley, at Elizabethton, and at Sullivan Central. That is three starts on the road, with one of them being at Unicoi County, and at Sullivan Central, which is a AAA school. Hampton leads the staff with 30 1/3 innings pitched on the season. He has the ability to go deep in games, and save our bullpen. Hampton also leads the team with 8 appearances on the season, as he has made 5 starts and 3 relief appearances. Don't let Hampton's record fool you, he is a quality Varsity pitcher. |
