Posted May 4/10 - Longhorns split with North, need a win and a North loss to finish 5th
The Longhorns split a doubleheader with the Sullivan North Raiders on Tuesday evening.  We needed to sweep to ensure fifth place in the Three Rivers Conference.  Game one saw the Raiders take an 12-4 lead into the 7th, but Johnson County scored 6 in their half of the 7th, but ended the game with the winning run at the plate.  Johnson County took a 3-1 lead on back to back home runs by Eric Cullop, his 3rd, and Sammy Hampton, his 1st, but North scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th, stunning every Johnson County coach, player, and fan.  You feel good about fighting back, but the close score at the finish only magnifies the plays earlier in the game that turned out to cost you the game.

The Horns took the second game by the score of 12-5.  Mark Jennings went the distance for Johnson County.  He struck out 4, against only 1 BB.  Sammy Hampton went 5-10 in the doubleheader, with 3 runs scored, a home run, and 2 RBI.  Eric Cullop went 3-8, with a double, triple, and a home run.  He knocked in 2 runs on the day.  Zack Hayworth went 3-7, with a double, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Mark Jennings went 4-6, with 4 runs scored, a double, and an RBI.  Cody Greer went 4-7, with 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Johnson County hosts the Elizabethton Cyclones on Wednesday afternoon.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
