Posted May 7/10 - It's time for postseason baseball

The 2010 regular season did not go as planned for the Johnson County Longhorns, but that phase of our schedule is over.  It's now time for postseason baseball!  It's a new season.  Everyone is 0-0.  The intensity goes up, and each pitch, defensive play, and at-bat, matters.  For the second straight year the Longhorns will open the district tournament as the visiting team (because of lower seed) against the Happy Valley Warriors.  We lost an 11-9 game against the Warriors at home on March 30th, won on a big Tyler Fenner home run, on April 1st at Cannon-Gouge Park, and dropped a 6-3 decision at Cannon-Gouge on April 19th.  Tyler Fenner has hit .333 against Happy Valley this season (4-12) with 2 home runs and 2 doubles.  Six of his twenty runs batted in this season have came against the Warriors.  Sammy Hampton is our most rested starting pitcher (three days).  He will take the ball for the Longhorns, with Mark Jennings and Cody Greer in relief.  Hampton, who has pitched in tough luck this season, is due for a win.  There would be no better time to get one than the opening game of the 2010 district tournament at J. Fred Johnson Stadium.
