Geldnich sends Thunder home winners in an exciting game against Whitefish Bay 2-1 

In a battle for the division lead in the WSYBL the home town kids put it all together for the victory.  The game featured two of the best pitchers in the league and Juan Gurrola was up for the challange as he out dueled his Whitefish Bay counterpart (Jonas) for 6 innings striking out 4 and shutting out the WFB bats.

The first score of the game came on a BOOOMING BOMB off the bat of Mason Kirk in the bottom of the third inning to deep right field.  It was a no doubter that got the fans and players from west bend super charged!  While Gurrola was rolling on the mound, defense came up huge in the 5th inning with a near triple play.  WFB got their first two runners on  and tried to sacrifice bunt.  The bunt got up in the air and catcher Cooper Schlosser made a sensational diving catch..got up and threw to 1st for an apparent out and quickly Kirk went to 2nd for another sure out.  The team thought they had turned their first triple play, but the player at first was ruled safe.  The next batter flew to left to end the inning.

The game remained 1-0 until the top of the 7th when with two outs and a runner on 3rd a weak swinging bunt allowed the tying run to score and set the stage for a Thunder walk-off!

 Josh Brockman has been a hot hitter for the Thunder and he came up huge to lead off the 7th with a screaming double to center.  Joey Pettit laid down a perfect bunt down the first base line that refused to go foul and runners were on 1st and 3rd with no outs.  WFB intentionally walked Mason Kirk to load the bases setting the stage for another hot hitter Matt Geldnich.  With the infield drawn in and the outfield staged for a play at the plate, Geldnich delivered a long line drive well over the outfielders to right center to walk-off in victory.  It was Geldnich's 3rd hit of the game!  

This was a battle right to the end and hats off to a very solid Whitefish Bay team!  Way to Go THUNDER!!!
