6 of the A's pitchers threw yesterday at Blue Mountain Park and were once again able to keep the offense off balance as they have done all season. The depth of the A's bullpen has been crucial to surviving double headers, tournaments and keeping the A's in close games with high caliber teams.
'We don't really have a #1 starter' remarked Manager Bruce Michael, 'It's more like a 1A, 1B, 1C'. This referring to Jorgan Tennant, Benny Maeda and Brian Choi who along with middle reliever Cody Carlyle and John Veltin, David Spalding and Cody West throwing from the bullpen gave up 16 runs in their 3 games during the provincials. A manageable number compared to the 33 runs scored by the A's. The depth goes further as Kris Fibish, Tyler Yorko and Ronnie Parrish have all thrown innings this season and are ready for the Canadian Championships. |
