Posted Apr 14/11 - PIRATES KNOCK HIGHLANDERS FROM FIRST PLACE

Highline emerged victorious Wednesday night in a "must win" Seamount League game by downing Hazen 3-2.  The win drops the Highlanders out of first place and keeps Highline's chances alive for a shot at the league crown. The Pirates drew first blood in the bottom of the first when Nick Mead singled to score Jacob Wydick to make it 1-0.  Highline added another run in the third without a single base hit thanks to an error and three bases-on-balls.  Meanwhile, Senior, Caleb Ramirez retired the first ten batters he faced before an infield single broke up the no-no.  That batter would eventully score to cut the lead in half.  Hazen tied the game in the top of the fifth on a bloop single.  Highline threatened in almost every inning and finally retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth thanks to Wydick's RBI single that sent Eric Anderson home from second base.  Caleb pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning and the Pirates could celebrate their third straight victory on a cold, wet April evening on Moshier Field.  Jacob, Nick Mead and Thomas Farrell led the offense with two hits each.  Caleb battled through two line drives off his shins to get the complete game victory.  Highline's next game is Friday at Foster with a 3:30 game time.  Next week we have a make up game at Evergreen on Monday,  a make up at Kennedy at 3:30 on Tuesday and then a "home" night game, also with Kennedy on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. The make up with Tahoma is scheduled for Friday the 22nd for both JV and Varsity and both at Moshier.

Eric Todd produced some amazing photos of our game with Hazen.  He truly captured the story of Highline's victory and his photos can be seen at the following link:
