Posted Apr 19/11 - RATS TAKE SEAMOUNT LEAGUE LEAD
It wasn't pretty but it was a "W" and the Pirates will gladly take an 8-7 victory over Kennedy on Tuesday afternoon.  The Lancers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second off of starter Caleb Ramirez.  Highline responded with three runs on three hits and a walk in the top of the third to take the lead. Kennedy stroked back-to-back homers in he fourth to move ahead 5-4 but the Pirates answered back with three in the fifth and one more in the sixth to take an 8-5 lead.  Kennedy was not done yet as they scored one run in the sixth and then mounted a serious threat in the bottom of the seventh scoring one run and leaving two on base when the final ground out was recorded.  Caleb pitched his heart out to get the win going six innings.  Jonny Rhodes picked up the "Save" for Highline.  The offense was led by Jonny Locher who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases. Nick Mead and Eric Anderson had two hits each.  Highline's defense was a little shoddy coughing up four errors but Kennedy's was a little worse (5 errors) which probably made the difference in the contest.  These two teams meet again Wednsday night at 7:00 PM at Moshier Field.  Highline has moved into a tie for the Seamount League lead.  A win will put us all alone at the top as the Renton Schools are on Spring Break this week.
