Kennedy jumped out with four runs in the top of the first inning and then held off Highline late to emerge with a 7-5 victory at Highine on Wednesday night. The Lancers put together four hits and two free passes in that frame. Highline answered back with a run in the bottom half when Jonny Locher doubled, stole third and came home on Logan Brickell's sacrifice fly. Kennedy got two more runs in the second to open up a five run lead. The Pirates hit the ball well but the Lancer's defense was outstanding as they made several "Web-gems" on the night. Jonny hit a two run homer in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-4. Thomas Farrell had an RBI single in the sixth to make it 7-5. In the bottom of the seventh, the Pirates mounted a two out rally which began with a Jeff Kemp infield single. Jonny was intentionally walked but a game ending pop-up thwarted the rally and broke up the Highline win streak.
Friday's game with Tahoma has been cancelled due to make-up game priorities in the SPSL. The next action for the Pirates is Monday night at 7:00 PM as we play host to Tyee. |
