Posted Jul 22/11 - Royals Lose 2 in a row for 1st time since March

The Ridge Meadows Royals have gone 2-2 in their last four games mixing in a two game losing streak and are now on a two game winning streak heading to Cowichan on Saturday.  As said previously, the Royals lost two consecutive games which they haven't done since the exhibition season in March.

After a dissappointing loss to White Rock the Royals literally handed a win to the Vancouver Mounties at Hillcrest by issueing an extremely high number of free passes to the bases.  The home runs are still coming as the Royals tallied another 6 over these 4 games.  Pelletier had two huge bombs (both to the opposite field) against the Mounties then added a single against Abbotsford on Wednesday night.  The Royals actually hit 4 home runs against Abbotsford with Halstrom, Jonsen, and Stadnik adding to Pelletier's shot in Abbotsford.  Yesterday evening Jonsen put the exclamation mark on the slugfest with a laser that went out to center at Bird Field.

On the mound, Bailey put his bad start in Vancouver behind him and was dealing in Port Coquitlam over 4 IP but received the no-decision.  Pelletier came in to mop up and got the win in relief.  Rooster made his return to the mound from a sore forearm (skateboarding?) in Abbotsford pitching 1 inning and Benard shut the door late as he had both pitches working nicely.

Some nice defense was speckled in by Germain's diving catches in the corner outfield postions while Bird has been a vaccum at 2nd base as he has made some spectacular plays there.

Royals move on to Cowichan (field in is Duncan) where they hope lock down 3rd place in the BC Minor Bantam AAA league.  One Victoria SR loss to North Delta coupled with two Royals wins in Cowichan will clinch the 3rd spot.
