Posted Jun 6/12 - Wildcats go 1-2 on opening weekend
The Auburn Wildcats opened their 2012 summer with a 1-2 performance over 3 days this past weekend. Friday night they lost a heartbreaker to the Marysville Goldsox 1-0, despite Jacob Cook pitching 7 innings of 3 hit baseball. Saturday, Auburn Traveled to Lodi, CA and lost to the California Glory by a score of 9-5; errors hurt the Wildcats as they could not get back in the game after a late error-induced rally by the Glory. The home opener Sunday at James Field proved to be a good one, as the Wildcats beat the visiting Sacramento M's by a score of 9-2. Mike Durham hit his first homerun of the summer, and Mike Proiette pitched 7 innings of shut out baseball. Ethan McGill (Yuba College) went 5-9 over the weekend and Joey Havrilak (University of Akron) went 4-8 with a HR, to lead the offensive attack for the Wildcats. Auburn is on the road this upcoming weekend playing 5 games in three cities, Oroville, Alameda, and Vacaville.
