Thunder Ties Sussex White in a Well Played Game

For the second game in a row the Thunder traveled to Sussex. After defeating Sussex Red on Monday, they tied Sussex White tonight 12-12 in 8 innings. Once again the Thunder bats came out on fire, they scored 6 times in the first but Sussex came right back with 5 of their own. After that the pitchers settled down and we had a good old fashioned baseball game on our hands. The Thunder led 10-6 heading into the bottom of the 6th, when Sussex scored 3 times to trim the lead to 10-9. The Thunder was unable to score in the top of the 7th and then Sussex came up to bat trailing by 1 in the bottom of the 7th. They got the tying run to 3rd base with two outs. After the batter fouled off a few two strike pitches, he singled to left to tie the game and force extra innings. The Thunder came right back and plated 2 runs in the top of the 8th. But back came Sussex. After the first batter made out, an infield single started the rally. The next batter followed with a deep double to left scoring a run and putting the tying run on second with 1 one out. Sussex would end up tying the game and due to time limit the game ended in a tie. Both teams battled to the very end and it was a great game to watch and be a part of.

The Thunder was led at the plate by Matt Geldnich who was 3-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Nick Sterman stayed hot with a 2-4 night an another double as well as 2 more Rbi. TJ Simpson was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 Rbi. As a team the Thunder had 12 hits.

On the mound, Cooper Schlosser started and went four strong innings. He only walked two batters and settled down nicely after the first. Juan Gurrola followed with four strong innings as well. He did not walk a batter and struck out two in his four innings. It was a well pitched game by the Thunder pitchers. We have been struggling to throw strikes and these two guys stepped up today and pitched excellent. These were two good hitting teams and both teams put the ball in play. It was a great game that came down to the very end. What else could you ask for?

The Thunder will get back at it Friday night in West Bend vs. Germantown Jaguars with game time at 7:45. Hope to see you there and Go Thunder!
