Thunder Bats Stay Hot In Win VS. Germantown Jaguars

The Thunder played their 3rd game of the week Friday night and they used a 9 run 5th inning to beat the Germantown Jaguars 16-6. It was a back and fourth game until the 5th. The Thunder led 3-1 after the first but the Jaguars scored three times in the second to go up 4-3 after two innings. They would add one in the top of the 3rd before the Thunder scored three of their own in the bottom to go up 6-5 after three complete. The score was 7-6 Thunder heading into the bottom of the 5th when the fireworks began. Daniel Jones got things going with a one out single. Riley McClarran and Matt Geldnich followed with consecutive walks to load the bases. Cooper Schlosser then reached on an error scoring a run and setting the stage for Blake Hall. Blake followed with a three Rbi double to left giving the Thunder a 10-6 lead. They weren’t done however, as Mason Kirk followed with a Rbi single to center. Nick Sterman and Juan Gurrola followed with singles of their own and when all was said and done, The Thunder scored 9 times in the inning to win the game 16-6 in 5 innings.

Blake Hall started on the mound and went two innings striking out one; he was followed by Jordan Schommer who went the final three frames. Jordan struck out three and didn’t walk a single batter in his three innings of work.

At the plate the Thunder were led by Cooper Schlosser, Blake Hall and Mason Kirk who were all 2-3. The trio had 6 Rbi and 7 runs scored combined. Nick Sterman, Juan Gurrola, TJ Simpson, Sam Geldnich, and Daniel Jones each had one base hit. Matt Geldnich reached all three times with bases on balls, scoring three times and swiping three bases. Logan Chesak walked twice as well and every Thunder player reached base in the victory!

It was a good week for the Thunder. They played three games vs. three teams who were all 6-2 heading into play and the Thunder went 2-0-1 in those three games. They scored 53 runs and had 43 base hits. The pitchers also stepped up this week. They did a much better job throwing strikes, and if we throw strikes we are tough to beat.

With the win the Thunder improve to 7-3-1 in State League play and 10-3-1 overall. They continue play Tuesday night vs. Germantown Warhawks Blue at 7:45 in West Bend.
