Thunder Takes 3rd In Suburban Athletics Tournament

The Thunder placed 3rd in the Suburban Athletics Tournament up in Neenah over the weekend. They beat the home town Suburban Athletics team in the Consolation game 7-2 to claim 3rd place in the Tournament. The Thunder played three pool games on Saturday and went 2-1 in their pool, which was good enough to advance to Sundays Semi Finals. Being the 2nd seed in their pool, they had to face the #1 seed from the other pool. They played Appleton in the Semi Final and lost in a close battle 3-1. Both teams played great and it was a well played game by both sides in every aspect. Neither team walked a batter or made an error in the game. Appleton scored 3 in the 2nd inning and that held up as the Thunder were only able to score one run. In the Consolation game, they came from a 2-0 deficet to win 7-2 scoring all 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Their was great pitching by the Thunder all weekend. Cooper Schlosser pitched 9 solid innings in the tournament. Blake Hall pitched very good as well and Juan Gurrola finished off the last 3 innings of the 3rd place game by throwing 3 shut out innings. The boys played lots of baseball in two days and they should be proud of their 3rd place finish. The team gets right back into action Tuesday night with a State league game vs. Muskego at 7:45 in West Bend. Hope to see you there and Go Thunder!
