HERON LAKE — Ethan Duffy hurled
seven solid innings, and Lucas Knutson delivered a go-ahead RBI single
in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Heron Lake Lakers to a 4-3
victory over the Jackson Bulls in the opening game of a First Nite
League amateur baseball doubleheader at Laker Field Sunday afternoon. Duffy
(six strikeouts, four walks) scattered five hits and allowed just two
earned runs, while Jackson’s Tom Hady (three strikeouts, two walks) was
also effective in a complete-game effort on the mound. Marcus
Schultz and Blaise Jacobsen each belted an RBI triple to help the Bulls
jump out to a 3-0 lead after three innings. Andy Wolf, Ryan Rasche and
Caleb Rossow all collected singles for Jackson’s other base hits. Heron
Lake scored three runs in the fourth to tie the game and then took a
4-3 lead in the sixth when Knutson drove in Eric Milbrath with a two-out
single to left field. Ben Scheevel (RBI double), Kirk McBreen, Ethan
Duffy (double) and Lon Eichenberger also had base hits for the Lakers. R H E Jack. 201 000 0 — 3 5 1 HL 000 301 X — 4 5 1 |
