HERON
LAKE — Matt Franks hurled a complete-game gem Sunday afternoon, leading
the Heron Lake Lakers to a 3-1 victory over the Lakefield Horned Frogs
in a First Nite League amateur baseball game at Laker Field.
Franks
(five strikeouts, three walks) allowed just three hits and a
first-inning run in seven strong frames to earn the win on the mound for
Heron Lake.
Dustin
Pronk (three strikeouts, three walks) and Phil Pronk (two strikeouts,
two walks) each pitched three solid innings for Lakefield, combining to
allow just five hits and three runs.
Lucas
Knutson cracked a two-run single in the second inning, while Thomas
Albrecht lifted an RBI sacrifice fly in the third to account for the
Lakers’ scoring. Alex Meyer and Ethan Duffy both doubled, while Ben
Scheevel and Ike Rogers had the other base hits for Heron Lake.
Brock
Thaemlitz was 2-for-3 with an RBI single for the Horned Frogs (4-7 in
the league), while Bryce Christopher belted a two-out double in the
sixth.
Heron
Lake, which is now 7-8 overall and 7-5 in the league, plays at Milroy
Saturday and at both Windom and Worthington next Sunday.
