HERON
LAKE — Pounding out a total of 12 hits and scoring seven runs in the
bottom of the second Monday afternoon, the Heron Lake Lakers claimed a
13-0, seveninning victory over the Mountain Lake Lakers in a First Nite
League amateur baseball game at Laker Field.
Lon
Eichenberger (2-for-3, two runs scored), Ethan Duffy (2-for-4, two
doubles, three RBIs), Ben Scheevel (2-for-3, double, two RBIs) and
Thomas Albrecht (2-for-4, triple, double, two RBIs) were among the top
hitters for the Lakers.
Kirk
McBreen (three runs scored), Matt Franks (RBI), Eric Milbrath (RBI) and
Lance Knutson all cracked a single to round out Heron Lake’s offensive
attack.
Scheevel
(five innings, six strikeouts and no walks) and Eichenberger (two
innings, one strikeout and no walks) combined to hurl a two-hit shutout
for the Lakers, with both permitting just one base hit apiece.
Kyle
Schroeder and Gary Blom each collected a single for Mountain Lake. Kyle
Schroeder, Adam Schroeder and Steven Herrig handled the Lakers’
pitching chores.
Heron
Lake, which is now 4-3 overall and 4-1 in league play after winning
three games over the weekend, plays at Lakefield Wednesday night.
