HERON
LAKE — Thomas Albrecht delivered a gamewinning RBI single up the middle
in the bottom of the eighth Sunday afternoon, driving in Kirk McBreen
from second base to lift the Heron Lake Lakers to an extra-inning
victory over the Tracy Express in the opener of a First Nite/Gopher
League amateur baseball doubleheader at Laker Field
Albrecht,
who pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and struck out five of the nine
batters he faced while allowing no runs, no hits and one walk to earn
the win on the mound, also doubled and finished 2-for-2 at the plate in
the scheduled seven-inning affair.
Alex
Meyer (double), Lucas Knutson (RBI) and Ethan Duffy (RBI triple) also
smacked two hits apiece for Heron Lake, while McBreen, Matt Franks and
Octavio Jimenez each collected a base hit, as well.
Franks
pitched the first 5 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on four hits
and two walks while striking out four batters in a quality start for Heron Lake.
Tylan
Gylling (three strikeouts, six walks) pitched a complete game for
Tracy, while Andrew Mathiowetz (RBI), Andrew Suby, Jason Minett (RBI
double) and Greg Barnes each smacked a base hit for the Express.
Tracy claimed a 9-7 victory over Windom later in the day at Heron Lake.
