Posted May 29/12 - Heron Lake 8, Windom 5 (6 innings)
HERON
LAKE — Striking with a pair of three-run outputs in the first and
second innings, the Lakers completed the sweep with a weather-shortened
victory over the Windom Pirates in the final game of the day Sunday at
Laker Field. Lightning and rain prior to the start of the seventh inning
forced the game to be called as an official contest after six complete frames.
Ethan Duffy earned the win on the mound, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks while fanning seven
batters in four innings. Alex Meyer (three strikeouts, one walk)
pitched two scoreless innings of no-hit ball to pick up the save for
Heron Lake.
Duffy
also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two
RBIs. Lucas Knutson was 2-for-3 with an RBI double and three runs
scored, while Matt Franks belted a key three-run double in the bottom of
the first for the Lakers.
Brett
Mattson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Windom offensively, while
Chad Lindaman and Dane Nielsen each cracked a single. Nielsen, Kody
Johnson and Tyler Knutson each saw time on the mound for the Pirates.
