HERON LAKE — Pounding out
14 hits and taking advantage of seven Heron Lake errors Sunday
afternoon, the Fairmont Martins earned an 11-1 victory over the Lakers
in a First Nite League amateur baseball game at Laker Field.
Spencer
Chirpich (3-for-5, three RBIs), Scott Chirpich (2-for-5, RBI), Tanner
Nawrocki (2-for-5, two runs), Ian Bents (2-for-3) and Marcus Teachout
(2-for-4) each had multiple hits to lead Fairmont at the plate.
Bents
(six innings, three strikeouts) and Tyler Beck (two innings, three
strikeouts) handled the pitching duties for the Martins (1-0).
Matt Franks pitched 5 2/3 innings for Heron Lake, striking
out two batters and permitting seven runs on eight hits and three
walks. Ethan Duffy and Alex Meyer pitched in relief for the Lakers.
Lon
Eichenberger was 2-for-4 to pace Heron Lake offensively, while Eric
Milbrath, Ben Scheevel and Ike Rogers were each 1-for-3 for the Lakers.
Heron Lake, which is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in league play, travels to Lamberton for a nonleague game Wednesday night.
