LAKEFIELD — The Minneota Mudhens picked up a 6-5 win over the
Heron Lake Lakers Wednesday night, in Game 1 of the amateur league
playoffs. Heron Lake jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the
bottom of the first only to have Minneota tie the game at two in the top
of the third. Minneota would strike next, getting one run in the
top of the fifth to break the tie. The Mudhens would get two more runs
in the top of the sixth, but the Lakers would drive home two runs of
their own to pull within one. Minneota grabbed another run in the
top of the ninth to give themselves a two run lead as the Lakers came
up to bat. But the Lakers could only muster one run in the bottom of the
inning and would fall short of the comeback. Matt Musser got the win for the Mudhens, while Jason Mackinnon (4-for-5) had an RBI and Jason Myhre (3-for-5) had two RBIs. The
