Posted Dec 31/12 - Cash & Bopps: Perfect Game Top Prospects

Kudos to Bopper and Cash for their Top Prospect selections by Perfect Game...

Bopper was selected Top Prospect at the December 2012 Perfect Game Main Showcase at the Boston Red Sox facility in Ft. Myers, where he and other TigerTown players took BP in JetBlue Stadium, which is a replica of Fenway Park. In addition to his excellent hitting, Bopper (6', 195 lbs.- Freshman at Montverde Academy), also made a fantastic play at third base in which he dove for a ball behind the bag, snared it, popped to his feet and made a perfect throw to first to just barely nab the runner. Perfect Game wrote that he "is an intriguing prospect to follow through the years."

Meanwhile, Cash (5-11, 165 lbs. - 8th grade - Montverde Academy) was named one of the Top Underclass Prospects by Perfect Game at its High School Showdown, at which four of the top high school programs from Florida faced off against four of the top programs from Georgia, including Parkview, which was last year's national champions...Perfect Game wrote that he "is only an 8th grader, but plays with the Montverde varsity," and "is very, very good. We'll be keeping a close eye on him in the future."

At the Perfect Game Main Showcase, both Cash and Bopps both hit very well while facing top 2014 and 2015 pitchers. Cash tied for the event lead in RBI (3) with teammate and All-American Alex Aristy (2014), who was the top performer at the event, including being the fastest runner (6.5), the best power in games (home run through a stiff 35-mph wind and an opposite field triple), and fifth strongest arm.

Alex, Bopps and Cash are shown in the accompanying photo.
