Posted Aug 4/13 - Baumgartner Leads Outlaws to 6-3 Win Over Le Center

Ryan Meyer was a homerun short of hitting for the cycle finishing 3 for 4 on the day.

Outlaws-6 / Le Center-3

This will be interesting attempting to complete game wraps 2 months after the season has concluded, but here we go!

The Outlaws traveled to Le Center after drawn out negotiations and a cancellation by Le Center in a game that was originally scheduled to take place in Welcome.  Long story short Le Center offered to host the Outlaws and would in turn donate $200.00 to a charity of the Outlaws choosing.  Soooooooooo....The Outlaws traveled to Le Center.  The Outlaws came into the game sporting a 9-4 league record and one game behind the Le Center Braves in the standings.

Ryan Meyer had the only hit in the top of the first for the Outlaws who failed to score.  Sam Baumgartner took the hill for the Southwest crew and also tossed a scoreless first frame.

Jeff Appel singled to open the top of the 2nd and Grant Carson immediately followed suit with a single of his own.  Robb Larson then showed some clutch hitting as he singled and drove in both Appel and Carlson.  (I'm not really remembering how we ended up in scoring position here.)  The Outlaws would add a Walk from Ryan Carlson and Sean Mangan along with a hit by pitch from Beckett, but would fail to add any additional runs.  Bammers cruised through the bottom of the second striking out the final two hitters of the inning.

Le Center retired the first two Outlaw hitters in the third, but "Magic" Mike Roth doubled with two outs.  If I'm remembering this correctly Roth legged out a would be double on the prior pitch only to have it called foul.  Mike then followed up with another line drive that really was a double.  Mike was in need of oxygen on 2nd base when Jeff Appel stepped to the plate and lined a single to left field.  Needless to say Mikey wasn't quite ready to score from second on the play! hahaha!  The Outlaws two out rally would then stall and the score would remain 2-0 in their favor until the bottom of the 4th inning.

In the home half of the 4th the Braves battled back and took a 3-2 lead.  The book doesn't tell me how, but it does have a bunch of unlabeled at bats and 3 runs scored.  lol.

The lead for the Braves was short lived however as the Outlaws answered the bell in the top of the 5th.  With one out Jason Beckett singled.  Sam Baumgartner followed with a walk setting the table for Mr. August....Ryan "Ryno" Meyer.  Meyer laced a double driving in Beckett.  Not to be outdone, Paul Oelrich stepped to the plate next and lined a 2 RBI single scoring Bammy and Meyer.  Paul is good.

When the inning ended the Outlaws had regained the lead 5-3.  That was all the offense Sammy would need as he diced through the Braves lineup facing two hitters over the minimum in the final 3 innings.  Sammy finished the day with 11 strikeouts earning the victory.

The Outlaws scratched another run across in the 6th off of an RBI something from Ryan Carlson.  The book once again doesn't say what he did, and I can't remember.  It appears Travis "Shooter" Schuett also added a single in the 6th.

Ryan Meyer added to his 3 for 4 day with a triple in the 7th finishing with an RBI and a run scored also.  Jeff Appel finished the day 2 for 3 with a run scored. Paul Oelrich was 1 for 4 with 2RBI.  Mike Roth also finished 1 for 4 with a double.  Grant Carlson, Robb Larson, Ryan Carlson, Travis Schuett, and Jason Beckett all had one hit each.  Robb Larson smacked in 2RBI and Ryan Carlson had one.

This is not easy to do months removed from the season but I'll do my best to catch up.  Oh...and on a side note we never saw any of the money Le Center promised to donate.  Apparently there wasn't a check book at the game.  Another promise to pay at the state tournament was made as we parted ways.  Once again there was no payment at the state tournament.  I bet they pay next season....maybe.  :)
