A huge crowd was on hand for the 2010 Home Opener to witness the first blow-out win of the year for the Pirates. After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning Highline responded with two of their own in the bottom half en route to a 19-4 victory. Kasey Daw led the hit parade with three hits and three RBI. Jeff Kemp was 2-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBI. Ryan Brett picked up 2 more hits and scored three times. Derick Lewis cracked a pair of doubles, one of which actually was parked over the fence but a confused pair of umpires decided it bounced over. Caleb Ramirez picked up the win on the mound throwing 3 innings of no-hit baseball. Fifteen HHS players saw action including sophomore, Desmond Drew-Roddy who registered his first varsity basehit with a pinch hit single in the fourth.
The typical boisterous "Ratpack" crowd was bolstered by a large contingent of Major League scouts which was estimated to be 45-50 strong. Highline's next action is Friday night against Foster with a 7:00 PM gametime at Moshier Field.
